Kiwi Smoothie Recipe with Apple (Healthy Green Smoothie)

I realized recently that I’d somehow never made a smoothie with kiwi in it — a strange gap, considering how often I reach for one plain. Being on a diet has a way of making everything feel repetitive after a while, and I’d been looking for something to shake up my usual rotation without adding complexity or extra effort.

This one turned out to be exactly that. Kiwi, green apple, lime, mint, blended into something light and genuinely refreshing — nothing like the heavier fruit smoothies I usually make. It felt different in the best way, and it didn’t take anything more complicated than what I already had on hand.

If your healthy routine has started to feel like the same three things on repeat, this is worth trying — it’s simple, it’s fast, and it actually feels like something new. Here’s exactly how I make it.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 kiwis, peeled
  • ½ green apple, cored
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 5–6 fresh mint leaves
  • 1.5–2 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes

How to Make It

1. Prep everything carefully.

Wash the apple and mint leaves thoroughly, even though they might look clean already. Peel the kiwis and cut them into small chunks — they don’t need to be perfect, just small enough for your blender to handle easily. Cut the apple in half, remove the core, and chop that half into smaller pieces too. Halve the lime and squeeze the juice into a small bowl or straight into the blender, removing any seeds. Finally, press the mint leaves gently between your fingers to release more of their flavor before adding them in.

2. Blend everything together.

Add the kiwi, apple, lime juice, mint leaves, and cold water to your blender, along with a handful of ice cubes for extra refreshment and a slightly thicker texture. Blend for 30–60 seconds until smooth. If it still looks thick or heavy, add a touch more water and blend briefly again — you’re aiming for something light and drinkable, not overly thick like a typical smoothie, but not watery either.

3. Serve fresh.

Pour into a glass right away, adding a few more ice cubes if you like it extra cold. Give it a quick stir before drinking to make sure everything’s evenly mixed, and enjoy it immediately — that’s when the flavor is at its freshest and lightest.

When and Why This One Works So Well

This smoothie has found a specific place in my routine — I reach for it between meals, especially when I feel like I’m about to snack on something I don’t actually need. It works particularly well in the late morning or early afternoon, giving a light, slightly energizing lift without any heaviness. I tend to skip it late at night simply because of the natural fruit sugars, but during the day, it fits in easily as a lighter option.

What makes it work isn’t complicated — the kiwi brings a slightly tangy freshness, the apple adds natural sweetness, and the lime and mint make the whole thing feel clean and almost cooling. Nothing about it tastes heavy or overly sweet, which is exactly what makes it easy to drink regularly without getting tired of it.

Beyond the taste, it quietly supports the bigger picture too — helping with hydration, taking the edge off random cravings between meals, and giving you something flavorful without adding much in the way of calories. It’s not about anything extreme. It’s just one small habit that makes staying consistent throughout the day a little easier.
